In December we held our first ever Summa writing competition which was a huge success with over 120 entries on display in our Gallery in BP! Students produced a piece of written work which was judged on their ideas, presentation, and of course English, and prizes were awarded in four categories for students in Kids Club & Grades 1, 2, 3 and 4&5.

Judging was tough and after a lot of deliberation (and cups of tea and chocolate brownies) the winners were awarded their prizes in Buen Pastor at  the end of term in a special prize giving ceremony attended by students, friends, mums, dads, grandmas and granddads… It was a squeeze to fit everyone in! We hope that initiatives like this will encourage students to work harder at their writing, and make them feel more a part of the academy.

So, a special thanks to all the teachers who walk up to the top of that hill and doge footballs on the playground twice a week and somehow still manage to find the energy to motivate and inspire their students to produce some amazing, original and very high quality work in English as well as taking the time to help judge the writings, display the work and attend the ceremony! They are… Nati Ortiz, Pili Arbonies, Emma Wooding, Laura Thompson, Tom Bannan, Caroline Chapman, Alex Latimer, Michael Wright, Johanna Kovrig, Malcolm Crichton and also Dave Green and Alice Martin.  Also to Irune Mujika for her help with organising the display and ceremony.
